If you’re planning on moving to Fort Lauderdale, FL, you’re likely trying to figure out the best neighborhoods in Fort Lauderdale and which one would be the right fit for you. Vibrant and cheery, Sailboat Bend is the up-and-comer of Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods. Historic Art Deco homes line the inner blocks, while sleek condos and apartments take up the riverfront. There’s a little bit for everyone in this suburb within the city.

Thinking about moving to Sailboat Bend in Fort Lauderdale? Here’s our guide to the best restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, outdoor attractions, gyms, nightlife, and transportation in the neighborhood.

Food and dining

Sailboat Bend dining splits the difference between family-friendly restaurants and eateries with a trendy twist. Snag a wholesome lunch or laid-back dinner at these neighborhood spots:

  • The Chimney House: Pan-Latin favorites like steamed mussels with zingy chorizo make The Chimney House a must-visit.
  • Regina’s Farm: If you want a taste of Brazil, duck into Regina’s Farm for some of the best Pao de Queijo (gooey cheese bread) and flan in the city.
  • O-B House: Start your Sunday morning the right way with O-B House’s organic and locally sourced brunch spread (pancakes are just the beginning!).

Groceries

In the Fort Lauderdale suburbs, the groceries aisles are never too far. Head to the nearby Publix for your staples (and some excellent deli salads). The convenient Westside Market has your go-to snacks, and you can peruse over 50 stalls of crisp produce and gourmand delicacies at New River Open Air Market.

Coffee shops

Want to break up your work-from-home routine? Take a short walk to these neighborhood cafes:

  • Argyle Coffee Roasters: High-quality beans are Argyle Coffee Roasters’ calling (think dark Brazilian and Columbian roasts). Visit the shop for an above-average cup-of-Joe.
  • The Palm Cafe: Nestled inside General Provisions, Palm Cafe’s rustic vibes are perfect if you’re looking for a laid-back workspace. Don’t forget to pick up a vegan blueberry muffin on the way out.
  • Riverside Market & Cafe: Technically, Riverside Cafe is right across the river bridge. But it’s perfect for a midday coffee and lunch!

Outdoors and recreation

Though it’s far from the beach, Sailboat Bend still offers plenty of outdoor attractions and activities. Escape into the eco-friendly Sailboat Bend Preserve, which homes butterflies and native plants. Or, visit Esplanade Park and its gorgeous palm tree-lined paths. If you’re looking to launch into the river (or just admire passing boats), hit the historic Cooley’s Landing marina.

Gyms and fitness

This diverse Fort Lauderdale neighborhood gets an equally blended fitness scene. Punch out your frustrations at Level Up Boxing and Fitness, or engage your core on the Pilates mat at Diamond Core Fit. If you’re pushing the lock, hit up Fit Bodz Personal Trainer for a professionally led workout from the comfort of your home.

Nightlife and entertainment

A low-key version of downtown nightlife, Sailboat Bend has spots for both entertainment and partying. Sail back in time with the local speakeasy scene, courtesy of Stache Drinking Den and Apothecary 330. And don’t miss a Broadway-worthy performance at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, from musicals to acrobatic dance acts.

Transportation

Cruise into downtown via the Riverwalk Water Trolley, which stops by Esplanade Park. Similarly, Broward Boulevard bus routes can carry you Eastbound toward the ocean (take the SW 9 or SW 14 lines). But of course, a car is best for navigating this residential neighborhood.
